86 percent of renters surveyed said they would like to buy a home, but have no way to afford it.
Among them, 54 percent said they were sure they would never be able to pay it back.
The real estate market is facing an affordability crisis due to rising housing costs and high mortgage rates.
Looking at the survey results by age, younger Americans are more hopeful for improvement, particularly those under 45.
