UBritish Customs strike causes endless queues for travellers. According to Sky News, waiting times in Calais – where the ferries depart – were around six hours.

Strikes in the UK have been numerous in recent weeks. Hospitals, schools, universities and public transport had already been affected. Unions are demanding wage increases to limit the impact of high inflation.

This weekend’s strike was organized by members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union. The authorities have promised customs officers a 2% wage increase, which the union considers insufficient.
