After almost five days of the act of fractricide that shocked Pozo Azul, the police arrested Julio DS (38) who shot his brother, Omar Da Silva, who died on Monday of this week as a result of gunshot wounds. After being a fugitive and keeping police personnel engaged in investigative tasks, the man decided to voluntarily turn himself in in the company of a lawyer.

The case came to light on Monday, after the police learned that in Mondorí de Pozo Azul, around 11 in the morning, a male shot his brother with a firearm. According to investigations, what should have been a conversation to arrange a bet on politics ended with the shooting and death of Omar Da Silva (44), which caused a commotion in the place and several days of constant searching to find the fugitive.

Although the truck he owned with which he fled, a Toyota Hilux, was found abandoned on a farm located 45 kilometers from where the incident occurred, but not the author of the shots. In an interview with relatives, they had indicated to the police personnel that the defendant would turn himself in voluntarily, without specifying a date or time.

Finally around noon today, in the company of a lawyer, he appeared before the police unit where he was arrested and remains at the disposal of justice.

The fact

It all started when the members of the Pozo Azul Police Station were warned of the fact, when it was reported that a person had been transferred in serious condition from the local Caps to the Samic Hospital in Eldorado.

The uniformed officers went to the place where the events allegedly occurred and there they were able to speak with a nephew of those involved, who is 25 years old and had witnessed the entire sequence.

He said that when he arrived at the building around 11:30 a.m., he could see how Omar Eduardo was arguing with his brother Julio, although he did not know the reasons for the confrontation.

The fight moved to the sidewalk and it was in that instance, according to the aforementioned witness, that Julio took out a pistol-type weapon and fired three shots at Omar.

The attacker got into his Toyota Hilux truck and fled the site in the direction of Bernardo de Irigoyen, while the wounded man was taken to the aforementioned care center.

Around 5:00 p.m. from the hospital in the Labor Capital, they confirmed the death of Da Silva. As determined by the police doctor involved, he had a gunshot wound at the height of the pelvis, with no exit wound.
