MADRID.- The former mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma He stressed that opposition unity has been fundamental to the defeat of Nicolás Maduro, as evidenced in the presidential elections of July 28. He called for continuing the fight against electoral fraud.
During a rally at Puerta del Sol on August 3, he recalled the advice of leaders from different countries who called for unity in support of the democratic struggle in Venezuela“Everyone told us ‘unite, you cannot remain divided’ (…) We have consolidated a choir that gathers all the voices of the political and civil tendencies from Venezuela beyond the differences and we have shown that above any personal ambition is the nationality that identifies us as Venezuelans,” said Ledezma.
The National Electoral Council (CNE), which is close to the dictatorship, ratified Maduro as the winner on Friday with 52% of the votes, above the 43% of González Urrutia, who represents Machado, who is prevented from running due to a political disqualification.
