Antonio Ledezma says unity was key to the opposition’s victory against Maduro

Maduro is desperate and commits atrocities

MADRID.- The former mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma He stressed that opposition unity has been fundamental to the defeat of Nicolás Maduro, as evidenced in the presidential elections of July 28. He called for continuing the fight against electoral fraud.

During a rally at Puerta del Sol on August 3, he recalled the advice of leaders from different countries who called for unity in support of the democratic struggle in Venezuela“Everyone told us ‘unite, you cannot remain divided’ (…) We have consolidated a choir that gathers all the voices of the political and civil tendencies from Venezuela beyond the differences and we have shown that above any personal ambition is the nationality that identifies us as Venezuelans,” said Ledezma.

The National Electoral Council (CNE), which is close to the dictatorship, ratified Maduro as the winner on Friday with 52% of the votes, above the 43% of González Urrutia, who represents Machado, who is prevented from running due to a political disqualification.

However, the Unitary Platform has data to prove the fraud that gives González Urrutia as the president-elect with more than seven million votes. Six countries, including the United States, already recognize the opposition candidate as President of Venezuela and dozens of other nations have asked the CNE to publish the detailed minutes so that Maduro’s victory can be confirmed.

The electoral route

The opponent said that the leader Maria Corina Machado “They did everything they could to promote unity.” Speaking at the event, Antonio Ledezma said that another piece of advice he received, including from the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, was not to let themselves be taken off the electoral path. “You have seen a people navigate the electoral path in the midst of great adversity.”

He added that “the dictator” Maduro thought that María Corina Machado would call for abstention after her political disqualification. “María Corina and the Venezuelans stayed on the path electoral and we crowned the victory of Sunday, July 28. Now I tell you: President Pedro Sánchez, President Biden, President Gustavo Petro, we have already fulfilled our duty, now it is up to you not to leave the Venezuelans alone,” said Ledezma.
