Arrest in Scotland: Pilot arrives apparently drunk for his New York-bound flight

A Delta Airlines pilot has been arrested in Scotland after he allegedly showed up drunk for a flight to New York City and forced the cancellation of the trip, authorities said Tuesday.

Flight 209 normally leaves Edinburgh Airport at 10:35 am SCT for a seven-and-a-half hour journey to John F. Kennedy International Airport, but never took off on Friday.

The pilot, identified only as a 61-year-old man, was arrested around 10 a.m. local time, police said. He was booked on suspicion of breaching the UK’s Rail and Transport Safety Act 2003, which prohibits pilots and other transport operators from being affected at work.
