Berlin police send defusers: suspicious object found at bus stop – no bomb

A suspicious object called a police defuse squad into action on Sunday in Alt-Hohenschönhausen. At a bus stop on Große-Leege-Strasse, passengers waiting for the bus found the package around 2 p.m. and alerted the police, a police spokesman told the Tagesspiegel on request. First the “BZ” had reported.

The police cordoned off the area around the stop and sent specialists from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), who then examined the object. The conclusion: It was just electronic waste. The package consisted of wires, “presumably a battery and presumably parts of an e-scooter” and thus appeared to be dangerous, the spokesman said. However, this was not the case.

Around 4:30 p.m., the operation was over with around twelve officials, according to the spokesman. Police are investigating whether the item was placed with the intention of being perceived as an explosive device.
