Gilbert Hällström has been walking at night in Botkyrka for almost 20 years. He has around a dozen people to help him – in a municipality with over 95,000 inhabitants.
Last year, a collaboration was started with Botkyrka Municipality and Botkyrkabyggen, where one of the goals was precisely to engage more night walkers. But it’s slow going.
– There has been no more of the agreement, says Gilbert Hällström.

Finished with meeting room
Gilbert Hällström has long wanted to have his own meeting place. Something that is now becoming a reality when the municipality arranged a clubhouse for them in Norsborg.
It will be shared with the sports association Norsborg FC and Gilbert hopes that the collaboration can attract new forces.
– We are in the process of discussing with the municipality if, for example, sports associations could get a small penny to help, he says.
Awarded scholarship in Adriana’s honor
Recently, Botkyrka’s night walkers also received the Adrian scholarship with the justification that they are good role models and whose presence creates security.
This is what it sounded like when the award was presented in November:
And it was precisely the shooting death of Adriana that gave Gilbert the motivation back, after starting to tire of the night walk.
– It hurts me for every person who walks around and shoots, it’s the wrong way to go. You have to find these young people much earlier. This is one way.
