Coalition announces measures against child poverty

The federal government wants to take action against child poverty. As stated in a statement to the APA, Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and Minister of Social Affairs Johannes Rauch (Greens) are in exchange with economists. In addition, experts in the responsible ministries were entrusted with the development of measures, it said. The first key points are to be presented next week.

The high inflation hit families with children in particular. The groups most at risk of poverty include single parents and families with multiple children, it said. A number of measures such as an additional family bonus of 500 euros or the valorisation of family allowances have already been initiated. Now more are to follow.
