After the match, Ramón Jesurún, 71, was heading to the pitch with his son and other relatives for the awards ceremony, but security personnel prevented them from entering, reported Colombian newspaper El Tiempo.

The leader’s son, Ramón Jamil, allegedly clashed with one of the security guards at the venue, according to the same media outlet.

Jesurún, who is also vice president of CONMEBOL and a member of the FIFA World Council, also participated in the fight and was arrested along with Ramón Jamil, the newspaper explained.

The leader also faces a lawsuit in his country, where a commercial court imposed a fine of about $80,000 for participating in a scheme to divert and resell tickets for Colombia’s games in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Russia. A court is considering Jesurún’s appeal of that sanction.
