Commercial bank credit grew 5.2% in February 2023

Credit granted by banks to private consumers registered real annual growth of 5.2%, reaching a balance of 5.49 trillion pesos. The growth in the granting of credit has remained in positive terms since the beginning of 2022, adding 13 consecutive months of increase, but the banks are not claiming victory.

The segment with the highest growth was the consumer portfolio, which grew 9.6% in February 2023, against 9.0% last January, and the balance reached 1.22 trillion pesos. Among the consumer credit subsegments, Credit cards they grew 14.0% annual real.

Personal loans slowed down, since they grew 5.8% in the second month of the year, against 7.8% in January, and the balance here reached 194.100 million pesos.
