The Ardennes are home to the last brush factory in the Grand-Est. It manufactures very high quality professional brushes, sold all over the world.

The gesture is secular, in this brush factory of the Mazures (Ardennes). Here, there is no school to learn, but training transmitted from brushmaker to brushmaker. “It’s time that makes us improve, that we find our own little techniques”, explains Loryne Lambert, junior brushmaker. Today, brushes are made of all hairs, vegetable, synthetic, metallic or animal.

Some models still handmade

Natural silk is particularly suitable for oil painting. Automated production lines have appeared in the company, but for some models it is impossible to replace manual know-how. In 2019, RBN brushware won the label “Living Heritage Company”, for its history and its innovations. It allows it to conquer new markets.

With an increase of more than 13% in its turnover in 2022, the brush industry has many development projects in fields as varied as agriculture, cosmetics and leather goods.
