Cuban Randy Arozarena hit his third homer in two days and Panamanian Jose Caballero also hit a four-corner shot as the Rays hit four homers for the second straight day, something they have done once in their first 97 games.
After the Rays stretched a 5-0 lead, Aaron Judge launched a three-run homer in the seventh off Jason Adam 444 feet to left field. Judge leads the major leagues with 35 homers and 89 RBIs.
Tampa Bay has won two straight after dropping the series opener and is back above .500 at 50-49 heading into Monday’s series finale. The Yankees fall to 9-20 after a 50-22 start.
Reliever Garrett Cleavinger (6-2) got the win, Pete Fairbanks took over the ninth for his 18th save in 20 chances. Stroman (7-5) took the loss.
For the Rays, Panamanian Caballero went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Dominican Siri went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. Cuban-Mexican Arozarena went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
For the Yankees, Dominican Juan Soto was 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Venezuelan Oswaldo Cabrera was 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Rangers beat Orioles:
Jonah Heim hit a three-run homer, Andrew Heaney pitched five scoreless innings of two-hit ball and the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep in a rematch of last year’s postseason.
Anthony Santander got the Orioles close with his 27th homer of the season and third in the series, a two-run drive in the eighth inning before Texas held on to finish 2-5 against the Orioles. The Rangers swept Baltimore in last year’s American League Division Series on their way to their first World Series title.
The Orioles won three of four at home in late June, with Texas salvaging the last of the series as well.
