Thomas Müller’s words after the World Cup preliminary round suggested a resignation from the German national team. “I did it with love, you can be sure of that. I have to see everything else now. Many Thanks”said the 33-year-old after the 4-2 win over Costa Rica.
Now, almost six weeks apart, the 121-time national player catches his words again. At a press conference by FC Bayern at the training camp in Qatar, the offensive player said: “I was emotional after the Costa Rica game. I gave it a lot of thought and also spoke to Hansi. As long as I’m a professional footballer, I will always be available.”
Mueller added: “When? How? If? The national coach will decide that.” It is quite possible that Flick will forego Müller in the course of an upheaval in the future. What is known, however, is the 57-year-old’s high regard for Müller, who was allowed to play in all World Cup games from the start despite little match practice before the tournament.
