Donald Trump agrees to debate with Kamala Harris

Harris wins majority to face Trump, apparently has no rival in her party

WASHINGTON.- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced that he has agreed to debate his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, on Fox News on September 4.

“I have agreed with Fox News debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4. The debate was previously scheduled against the ‘sleepy’ Joe Biden on ABC, but was canceled because Biden will no longer participate and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, which creates a conflict of interest,” the Republican candidate wrote in his Truth Social platform.

Trump’s message was posted hours after the vice president secured the necessary votes to be designated as the Democratic Party’s candidate in the November presidential elections.

The former president said that the debate “will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a location yet to be determined” and clarified that “the rules will be similar” to those of his debate against Biden. “But with a packed arena!”

“Different candidates or not, their bad policies are the same, and this will be revealed forcefully in the debate on September 4th,” Trump wrote, arguing that “this date is convenient and appropriate because it is just before the September 6th start of early voting in the Presidential Election.”

Trump’s White House bid was upended last month when President Joe Biden, 81, amid growing concerns about his health, dropped his re-election bid and endorsed Harris.

His decision to withdraw came after his June debate against Trump on CNN, which was disastrous for Biden.

Trump, 78, initially said he would not debate Harris.

The 59-year-old former district attorney and California attorney general last month challenged Trump to a face-to-face debate with her.

“As the saying goes, if you have something to say, say it to my face,” he said at a campaign rally in Atlanta, but he has not publicly announced he will accept the debate on Fox News on Sept. 4.
