End of an era: Aulas no longer boss of Lyon

A new era begins at Olympique Lyon. As the Ligue 1 club announced in a press release, longtime club boss Jean-Michel Aulas has handed over his post to John Textor. The US-American will thus become Managing Director of the OL Group, while his predecessor will take over the honorary chairmanship.

From 1987, Aulas was at the helm of the Rhone Valley club, which dominated French football at will at the beginning of the millennium. From 2002 to 2008, OL was French champion seven times in a row and was also by far the most successful club in the Grande Nation internationally. Since then, the Lyon team has not been able to repeat the successes of that time, but they still belong to the big traditional clubs in the country.
