FBI raids construction magnate Sergio Pino's mansion

MIAMI.- The FBI was conducting an investigation at the luxury residence of prominent homebuilder Sergio Pino in Coral Gables since the early hours of Tuesday.

The operation, after which some neighbours claimed to have heard explosions on the property, is believed to be related to an ongoing investigation into criminal charges arising from her divorce proceedings.

The charges against Pino, who has not yet been formally charged, include allegations of poisoning, arson and harassment.

Investigation

According to local media, these allegations, which are part of a broader investigation, are believed to have already led to the arrest of four people, including a man who Pino’s wife identified as an employee of the couple.

Authorities had not confirmed the purpose of the raid, but at least a dozen law enforcement vehicles were seen outside the builder’s home. In a post on social media, Coral Gables police asked the public to avoid the area during the investigation.

Information also emerged about a previous operation by the authorities on another property of the businessman, presumably for the same investigations.

Pino heads Century Homebuilders Group, one of the largest Hispanic-owned homebuilding companies in the country, and has been an influential figure in local politics, serving as president of the Latino Builders Association.
