Two men are said to have stolen goods worth 200 euros from a drugstore. When an employee confronted her, he was threatened.

Federal police officers arrested two suspected thieves in Essen’s main train station on Sunday. One of the suspects previously threatened a drugstore employee with a broomstick.

As the authority reported on Monday, the employees alerted the emergency services around 4:45 p.m. when they recognized two men who are said to have stolen goods worth more than 200 euros. A drugstore employee became aware of the 42-year-olds because they argued right in front of the store.

Both men are to be brought before a magistrate

He alerted the federal police and asked the men to accompany him back to the shop. There, one of the alleged thieves grabbed the handle of a mop and threatened the 31-year-old witness with it. A few moments later, the emergency services reached the drugstore and took the two alleged thieves to the station.

During an alcohol test, the officers found that one of the men from Bochum had about 0.6 and his accomplice from Düsseldorf about 1.5 per thousand. A prosecutor ordered the arrest of the accused. They ended up in custody and are to be brought before a magistrate.

The federal police initiated criminal proceedings for robbery and for attempted dangerous bodily harm.
