Given the advance of bird flu, Sergio Massa will meet with Senasa

After this Monday the National Service for Food Health and Quality (Senasa) confirm new cases of bird flu in the provinces of Cordova and jumpthe concern of the authorities is focused on carrying out new health emergency measures.

That is why Sergio Massa will meet with the Secretary of Agriculture, Juan Jose Bahilloand the authorities of the Senasa to analyze the situation of avian influenza in Argentina and the region.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of the Nation stated that “people can get bird flu mainly through the direct contact with infected animals (alive or dead) or with their contaminated environments”, adding that “the transmission of the virus to people occurs when the secretions or excreta of infected birds are inhaled or the virus enters the mouth, nose or eyes”.

On the other hand, in the region cases have been detected in the commercial circuits of Bolivia and Peru; in wild or backyard birds in Uruguay and Chile; and suspected cases, without confirming positive, in Paraguay and Brazil.
