More about software development:

The decentralization of the digital landscape is progressing, driven by technical, regulatory and business requirements. It is characterized by hybrid and multi-cloud environments, federated data spaces (like Gaia-X, Catena-X, Structura-X et cetera) or distributed machine learning (for example learning in a swarm).

Florian Buehr

At Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Florian Bühr deals with the development of IT architectures for data value creation in multilateral use cases.

Such decentralized networks aim for openness, freedom of choice and flexibility. They do without a central intermediary and are instead determined by n:n relationships. This should reduce dependencies, avoid concentration of power or strengthen data protection and digital sovereignty. Nevertheless, the greatest possible interoperability should reduce complexity, enable network effects and integrate value chains across company boundaries. Catena-X, for example, wants to achieve the latter for the supply chains in the automotive industry.

Companies that want to use such open collaborative networks face a problem: They must trust each other, but are in competitive relationships or are separated by organizational boundaries. Therefore, they need a dynamic and automated way to establish trust between services in different trust domains, but without a central root of trust, that is, without an authoritative entity that all parties accept as trustworthy.
