World Cup 2022

The German national team was eliminated in the preliminary round of the World Cup for the second time in a row. Already in 2018 in Russia the team did not get past the group stage. That was repeated in Qatar. Despite a 4-2 win against Costa Rica in the last group game, they had to fly home.

David Raum returns from vacation stricken

Left-back David Raum took a holiday after the disappointment. Together with his girlfriend Eva Katharina, he checked into a luxury hotel in the Maldives, the “Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi”. But even on vacation, the 24-year-old couldn’t do without football completely – he is said to have returned ailing.

David Raum buckled according to information from “picture” and suffered an ankle injury. This is said to have happened while playing soccer in his free time. Back in Leipzig, he is said to have undergone several examinations. According to the report, Raum was given “absolute rest” for his foot by the medical team.

Driving to the training camp could be on the brink for space

It is still unclear whether David Raum will be fit again for his club’s training camp. RB Leipzig is already going to a training camp in the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of January. From January 2nd they will be preparing for the second half of the season for ten days in Abu Dhabi. RB’s first competitive game is on January 20 against FC Bayern.

David Raum only switched from TSG Hoffenheim to RB Leipzig in the summer, where he signed a contract until 2027. Raum is not the first DFB star to return from vacation stricken. Manuel Neuer fractured his right lower leg while ski touring and had to have an operation. At FC Bayern he will be out for the rest of the season.

Most recently, Niklas Stark made the move from Hertha BSC to Werder Bremen. In the summer, the central defender moved to the Weser on a free transfer and, after initial difficulties at the start, prevailed in Bremen. The 27-year-old was in the starting XI in six of the last eight league games before the World Cup break.
