“From the contractual point of view, the agreement is 100% closed, because the last remaining clauses were agreed without discrepancies and everything came to fruition,” said the leader in statements to Uruguayan radio 890 AM.

The 67-year-old coach’s debut in the Uruguayan national team would then be on June 14 against Nicaragua and on Tuesday the 20th against Cuba, friendly matches that will take place on the FIFA date and will be played at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo.
Bielsa, with a long career as a coach, has just led England’s Leeds United for the last time, from which he was promoted to the Premier League and from which he left on February 27, 2022.
With his arrival in Uruguay, “Loco” will become the second foreigner to lead La Celeste, after what Daniel Pasarella did between 1999 and 2001, and it will be his second cycle as a team coach after spending time in Chile between 2007 and 2011.
