PHOENIX.- The Arizona Diamondbacks added slugger Josh Bell to their ranks, from the Miami Marlinswhile the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees were among the teams that acquired bullpen help.

Clubs with playoff hopes were eager to recruit players Tuesday before the trade deadline.

Bell, 31, hit .239 with 14 homers for the Marlins this season. Miami will receive cash in exchange for the player, said a person familiar with the deal, which was not officially announced.

On the other hand, the Fish also gave up pitcher Trevor Rogers, who will now be part of the Baltimore Orioles. In that transaction, the South Florida team received infielder Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Stowers.
