Miami-Dade announces free Uber on routes affected by bus system renovation

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) announced additional solutions to support residents affected by changes to Metrobus service following the launch of the Better Bus Network (BBN) program.

These short-term solutions include an expanded MetroConnect service, renewed cooperation with neighboring cities and municipalities, a temporary alliance with Uber to provide transportation vouchers to residents in certain areas where bus services have been modified.

“While many passengers have seen an improvement in their routes, we understand the need to have accessible transportation options for everyone. “We are excited to implement these additional measures as a testament to our commitment to transit riders, ensuring no one is left behind as we improve our transit system,” said Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade.

According to DTPW, MetroConnect’s car sharing service is expanded for the northeast of the county and will operate as follows:

  • Biscayne Blvd Eastbound
  • NW 183rd St Northbound
  • Golden Glades to the West
  • NE 135th St going South

MetroConnect is a county vehicle service whose function is to bring residents from their homes to Metrobus or Metrorail stops, and vice versa. It works through an application similar to Uber.

To use MetroConnect, you only need to download the application on your smartphone or call 786-321-5842 to register and access this service, the document recommends.

The release states that MetroConnect service will also continue to provide first and last mile connections in 10 zones across the county: TransitWay, Cutler Bay, Kendall South, Kendall North, Dadeland South, Dade Land North, Westchester, Civic Center and North Dade.

Residents interested in learning more details about how MetroConnect works, hours and specific zones should visit the MetroConnect website. MetroConnect .

Uber support

Additionally, DTPW announced an Uber service that will provide support on Metrobus routes affected by the improvement program changes. Better Bus Network. Passengers on these routes can use the Uber app to drive the same route the bus usually travels. For this they will receive a discount voucher in the application.

Discontinued sections include:

  • (Old) Route 135 – Miami Lakes Drive to Golden Glades
  • (Old) Route 42: Opa-locka Tri-Rail Station to Douglas Road Metrorail Station
  • La sección discontinuada de la Ruta 104 – Dadeland North hasta Miami Dade College Kendall a lo largo de SW 88th St, SW 87th Ave, SW 104th St, SW 97th Ave, SW 112th St, SW 112th Ave, SW 104th St.
