Miami Marlins also trade their coveted star

Los Miami Marlins and New York Yankees York finalize trade that sends outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the Bronx, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Miami will receive three prospects in return, a source told SportsGrid’s Craig Mish. One of the players headed to Miami is catcher Agustin Ramirez.

Chisholm, a 2022 All-Star, is hitting .249 with 13 homers and 22 stolen bases in 101 games this season. He has played almost exclusively center field in that span, but also has experience at second base.

This season started out badly for the Marlins and it doesn’t look like they’ll be able to improve. They lost nine straight games to start the year and didn’t win a series until they swept the Colorado Rockies in three games from April 30 to May 2.

Two days after that series ended, the Marlins pulled off a surprise by trading star Luis Arraez to the San Diego Padres for a package of four players, including prospects Dillon Head, Jakob Marsee and Nathan Martorella.

As soon as Arraez was traded, the door opened for the Marlins to make other changes. They recently said goodbye to pitcher AJ Puk, who left for Arizona with the Diamondbacks, and now it’s Chisholm’s turn, who stood out as an obvious candidate for a trade even though he was under team control until 2026.

There were rumors that perhaps Chisholm’s personality would not sit well in the New York dugout, everything seems to indicate that they made the decision after a brief consultation with their players.
