Miami opens its doors to freedom in Venezuela

MIAMI.- At a press conference, the Comando Con Venezuela offered details about the event to be held next Sunday, July 28, coinciding with the presidential elections in the South American country, which seeks to prevent dictator Nicolás Maduro from perpetuating himself in power.

The monitoring room for the results at the polls will operate in the José Martí Park in the city of Miami, located at 434 SW with 3rd Ave.

María Teresa Morin, Coordinator of the Venezuela-US Command, confirmed the commitment of the Venezuelan diaspora to the fight to restore democracy and the rule of law after being tarnished by the Chavista regime despite the tricks and obstacles imposed by the misgovernment.

“These elections went from being an electoral phenomenon to becoming an annoying reality for the dictatorship, a way of telling the world about those people who remain firm against the abuse of a criminal regime,” said Morín, and announced that starting at four in the afternoon they will open the doors to this celebration of Venezuelan identity and support for those who will go out to challenge injustice.

Morín paused to thank Commissioner Joe Carollo for the invaluable support he offered: “He did it like any other Venezuelan.”

Carollo stressed that in Miami “we have always had our doors open to those Venezuelans who have arrived and are arriving in search of freedom and democracy.”

For his part, Mayor Francis Suárez expressed his solidarity with the Venezuelan cause: “We Cubans understand the struggle of the Venezuelan people better than anyone else, because we, like them, are orphans of a dictatorship” and concluded by saying that Venezuelans are going to go out and vote, let us pray for freedom to prevail.”

Also present at the event were Commissioner Manolo Reyes, leaders of the Venezuelan exile community and members of civil society, among others.
