Mob topples Hugo Chavez statue in protest against Maduro fraud

FALCON.- In an act of protest that captured national and international attention, an angry mob toppled the statue of the former president Hugo Chavez Friaslocated in the plaza on Shema Saher Avenue, in the city of Coro, Falcón state, northwest of Venezuela.

The scene, captured on video posted on social media, shows a group of protesters gathering around the monument before one of them hits it with a blunt object until it falls.

Once the statue was on the ground, the crowd celebrated the action with cheers and jubilation. Those present raised their hands, jumped and clapped, expressing their discontent and joy at the symbolic act.

This incident occurs in a context of growing unrest in Venezuela, following the results of the recent presidential elections. Last Sunday, July 28, the National Electoral Council (CNE), a servant of the dictatorship, orchestrated electoral fraud and announced that Nicolás Maduro had won with more than 50% of the votes, a result that has generated a strong reaction in different sectors of Venezuelan and international society.

The fall of the Chavez monument, a symbol of a political era that many Venezuelans want to leave behind, reflects widespread discontent with the current regime and demands for a profound change in the country’s leadership.
