Motorcyclist killed in shooting on Interstate 70 in Denver

DENVER, Colorado – The Denver Police Department (DPD) reported via its twitter account that what was initially believed to be a motorcyclist injured in a crash on Interstate 70 near Colorado Boulevard was be a shootout

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, DPD said in a tweet that they were investigating a single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Colorado Boulevard that left the motorcyclist critically injured.

Several hours later, police reported that the incident was being investigated as a shooting and that they were working to obtain information on a suspect. In an update later Tuesday morning, DPD announced that the victim, a male, had died of his injuries.

The eastbound lanes of the freeway remained closed from Brighton Boulevard to Colorado Boulevard at 9 a.m. as a result of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call the Crime Stop Hotline at 720-913-7867. There is a reward of up to $2,000 and the call can be anonymous.
