New Zealand Prime Minister resigns

Wellington, New Zealand.- New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern resigned her post on Wednesday during a party meeting.

According to local media, the Premier is expected to leave office before February 7.

“I’m leaving, because with such a privileged role comes responsibility. The responsibility of knowing when you’re the right person to lead and also when you’re not,” he said.

“I know what this job requires. And I know I don’t have enough in the tank anymore to do it justice. It’s that simple.”

“For me it is time,” he declared. “I no longer have energy for another four years,” in reference to the October elections.

“While I will not be running in the election, I know that the issues that most affect New Zealanders will continue to be the focus of the government throughout this year and until the election.”
