One person is dead and two are injured after shooting in Azusa

Police in Azusa are investigating a shooting that left two people injured and one person dead Friday night.

The calls came in around 11 p.m. of reports of people suffering from gunshot wounds in the 200 block of East Newburgh Avenue.

When police arrived, they found three injured people near an apartment complex with gunshot wounds to the upper torso, according to officers.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other teenagers, one 15 and the other 18, were taken to the hospital.

Police say that after an initial investigation they learned that the victims were standing near the apartment complex when several other people walked up and began shooting. They then fled the scene on foot.

Police continue to investigate the incident and believe it may be gang related.
