An out-of-state police officer shot and killed an individual Tuesday afternoon about a mile from the site of the Republican National Convention (RNC), where former President Donald Trump is participating, according to two local law enforcement sources.

The shooting occurred amid heightened security at the presidential convention, following the shocking assassination attempt on former president donald trump last Saturday during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Brian Steel, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Capitol City Lodge No. 9 in Columbus, Ohio, confirmed that Columbus police were involved in a shooting in Milwaukee, according to a report by USA Today.

There was no immediate word on whether the shooting had any connection to the RNC event, nor has the identity of the victim, who was a well-known person in the neighborhood, been officially revealed, according to witness accounts in statements to the newspaper. Journal Sentinel.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that an adult male was killed.

The incident took place near North 14th and West Vliet streets, outside the RNC security perimeter, said Milwaukee police officials, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement has cordoned off several blocks of the area, which is near King Park.

Dozens of Columbus officers are in Milwaukee, along with officers from cities across the country, to support security for the convention, where Trump was confirmed as the Republican nominee for the presidential election in November.

Hundreds of thousands of Republicans have gathered in Milwaukee for the national convention, where the former president arrived with his ear bandaged after being shot on Saturday.

Apparently the attack on Trump has given it a significant political boost that he is taking advantage of.

At Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, the former president listened to nearly an hour of speeches Monday while seated next to his running mate and vice presidential candidate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

Trump made the announcement that Vance would be on the November ballot just hours before the start of the convention. He also had Cuban-American Marco Rubio among his prospects.
