NEW YORK — Authorities are searching for a 4-year-old Hispanic girl who was reported missing for a week in Manhattan, New York City Police said Friday.

According to the report, Catalina Ríos, 4, was last seen on Friday, June 23, at around 8:40 p.m., leaving her mother’s residence in 201 East 24 Street.

Police sources pointed to our sister chain nbc4, that last seen location is a hotel that acts as a shelter. Apparently, a couple of days after the two left the place, the mother checked herself into a hospital and a worker reported her daughter missing, the sources said. They added that the mother indicated that she handed the minor over to a woman in front of a government building, but that she does not know which building and she has not seen her since.

The little girl is described as a girl with brown eyes and black hair. It was not disclosed what clothing she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

The case is under investigation.
