The departure from VfL Bochum “Unfortunately it was very unpleasant”, says Thomas Reis. In the ‘kicker’ interview, however, the FC Schalke 04 coach also makes it clear: “I wasn’t entirely to blame for how some things went.” In hindsight he got himself “I wish that one or the other would have been straightened out elsewhere.” That’s why he was disappointed and needed some time to finish the Bochum chapter, said Reis.
In principle, however, he has fond memories of his time on Castroper Strasse. He could separate the club and the behavior of individuals: “It’s only about individuals acting here, not about VfL as a club. I have experienced many beautiful and successful years at Bochum.” The 49-year-old worked as the head coach of Bochum from 2019 to 2022 and became second division champion with the Ruhrpott-Klub in 2021.
