Salt Lake City chosen as host city for 2034 Winter Olympics

PARIS-. Salt Lake City will once again host some Olympic Games after the COI On Wednesday, the country awarded the venue for the Olympic Games Winter 2034 to the candidacy of USA.

Utah’s state capital was the only candidate, as the International Olympic Committee last year granted Salt Lake City exclusive negotiating rights in a process that was fast-tracked to 2034, with the United States being awarded the host city.

The campaign team that presented the bid on stage to IOC members included Utah Governor Spencer Cox; Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall; and alpine skiing legend Lindsey Vonn.

In Salt Lake City, at 3 a.m., the city organized a party to watch the broadcast from Paris.

Salt Lake City was awarded the title 32 years after first hosting the winter games in 2002.

Climate change and the high cost of hosting the Games have reduced the interest of cities in hosting the Winter Games.

Utah capitalized on the global disinterest and sold itself as an enthusiastic host to repeat as host if the IOC decides to lean toward a permanent rotation of winter venues.

Christophe Dubi, the Olympic Games’ chief executive, has indicated that Salt Lake City would be an ideal candidate for such a plan.
