Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 could advance its launch due to the threat of the Google Pixel Fold

As the foldable space in the mobile industry becomes more crowded, it is expected that Samsung continue its reign with its next-generation Fold and Flip models. However, with rumors of a Google Pixel Fold becoming more frequent, the South Korean company may be gearing up for an early launch of its Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5.

According to SamMobilequoted in Android CentrallThe company could hold its next big Galaxy Unpacked event at the end of Julya notable advance from its usual summer reveal in early August, which saw the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and other devices in previous years.

While moving the event up a week or two isn’t too drastic, it could bridge the gap between the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google’s rumored Pixel Fold, which is expected to be revealed at Google I/O 2023 in May and leaks suggest that the phone will hit stores in late June.

The Pixel Fold is likely to go head-to-head with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and pack some impressive specs and an equally impressive design, which includes a durable hinge, water resistance, and wider screens. It is also expected to cost $1,799.

Meanwhile, Samsung is said to have some notable changes in store for the Z Fold 5, from a new hinge design to a slimmer chassis.

Samsung is also expected to announce other devices at the event, such as the new Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Z Flip 5 and possibly the new Galaxy Tab S9 series. For now, however, the rumors of a late-July Galaxy Unpacked are just that… rumors.
