They expect a historical record of travelers for Thanksgiving

If you plan to travel this Thanksgiving, be prepared for large crowds, slow traffic, and long lines on highways and airports.

The American Automobile Association says it will be the busiest Thanksgiving in several years.

About 55.4 million people are expected to travel between the Wednesday before the holidays and the Sunday after the holidays.

This figure includes more than 49 million people driving.

Airlines expect record numbers of passengers over a nearly two-week period, including the weekend before and the Monday or Tuesday after the holiday.

American Airlines estimates carrying 7.8 million passengers on more than 70,000 flights, United Airlines expects about 5.9 million passengers, and Delta said it will carry up to 6.4 million passengers.
