Turnaround in transfer poker: 1. FC Union lends Tim Skarke to Schalke

Tim Skarke is moving to FC Schalke 04. The bottom of the table in the Bundesliga had been interested in signing the right winger for months, but 1. FC Union had previously rejected the offers from Gelsenkirchen. Now there was an agreement. The 26-year-old Skarke will be loaned to Schalke for the second half of the season, after which the promoted player will have a purchase option.

Skarke had moved from Darmstadt 98 to Berlin on a free transfer before the season, but only played a small supporting role at Union. In all competitions, he was only used six times for a total of almost 100 minutes. He did not manage to participate in a goal.

“With this agreement, we want to give Tim the opportunity to get more playing time. We are currently unable to offer this to a sufficient extent. Schalke approached us and we also complied with Tim’s request with the agreement,” said Union manager Oliver Ruhnert in a press release.

Apart from the competition in the Berlin offensive, the game system was a big problem for Skarke. His favorite right wing position doesn’t exist in Union’s preferred 3-5-2 formation. He lacks the necessary defensive strength for the position of captain Christopher Trimmel as rail player.

Skarke will certainly get more playing time at Schalke. With only 13 goals in 16 games, the Gelsenkircheners have the most harmless offensive in the league. Your gap to the relegation rank is already six points.
