London, May 10. The British government paid tribute this Wednesday to the “talented and brave” journalist for the French agency AFP Arman Soldin, who was killed in a bombing raid in eastern Ukraine.
“Journalism continues to provide light in the dark in this war and Arman’s work was vital to that,” said a Downing Street spokesman, the official office of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The death of Soldin, a 32-year-old video coordinator at AFP’s London office, “is obviously devastating to all those who knew him,” the spokesman said.
“Any death in this unnecessary invasion is a tragedy and our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones in this conflict,” he added.
The journalist died when he was traveling with four colleagues from the same agency and Ukrainian soldiers in the surroundings of Tchassiv Iar, a town near the besieged city of Bakhmut.
The group was attacked with Grand rockets, in an area subject to frequent shelling by Russian troops. EFE
