The former Russian president has tried to dissuade the Western military alliance from further involvement in the war in Ukraine, by brandishing the threat of nuclear war.
A threatening warning. This Thursday, the former Russian president, and now deputy chairman of Putin’s powerful security council, Dmitry Medvedev warned NATO allies that a potential Russian defeat in Ukraine could trigger a nuclear war.
Alerts from the Kremlin to NATO are multiplying as Western countries announce, in turn, delivering weapons or tanks in support of the Ukrainian army.
“Nuclear powers have never lost major conflicts”
“The defeat of a nuclear power in a conventional war can trigger a nuclear war,” Dmitry Medvedev said in a message on Telegram.
According to the former president from 2008 to 2012, “the nuclear powers have never lost the major conflicts on which their fate depends”.
These strong declarations echo those of the head of the Orthodox Church during his sermon for the Epiphany. For him, destroying Russia would mean the end of the world.
