Madrid, Spain.- The United States has alerted this Thursday that they intercepted another four Russian fighters on Tuesday near the airspace of the state of Alaska a day after four aircraft were tracked in the same area, although Washington affirms that they are routine activities.
“Russian activity near North American airspace occurs regularly and is not viewed as threatening or provocative activity,” the US Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said in a statement.
Specifically, the intercepted aircraft included TU95 bombers, a Sukhoi Su30 fighter and an SU35 fighter. The aforementioned agency reported on the eve that it tracked another four Russian fighters on Monday — among which were TU95 BEAR-H and SU35 planes — within Alaskan airspace.
NORAD registers an annual average of six to seven interceptions of Russian military aircraft, although eight ships have already been intercepted in two days. These operations take place apart from the shooting down of several aerial objects that were flying at high altitude over Alaska.
