Hidalgo.- A fragmentation grenade exploded while a cockfight was taking place in a place known as La Roca, in the Mexican municipality of Epazoyucan, in the state of Hidalgo.
The event, which, as far as is known, occurred on December 26, was recorded on video and circulated on social networks. The recording shows the moment in which attendees and event participants, realizing that the device was going to explode, run for cover.
According to versions that have been released in local media, those responsible for the event are two alleged hitmen who arrived aboard a Jeep Grand Cherokee truck, entered the premises and threw the explosive devices and then fled.
At first, there was speculation about a report of injured people, but the Civil Protection paramedics who attended the emergency ruled out that there were any injuries and only confirmed cases of nervous breakdown.
Although the place was evacuated and cordoned off by personnel from the Hidalgo State Attorney General’s Office, to date the authorities have not ruled on the matter.
