Odysseas Vlachodimos isn’t worried about leaving Benfica. When asked by ‘tz’ whether goalkeeper-seeking FC Bayern could be an option for him, the keeper replies: “FC Bayern is a huge club. Being associated with such a club is an honor and reflects a bit on my achievements over the past few years. But that’s all speculation. I don’t deal with it and focus on the here and now.”
Instead, the signs at Vlachodimos are for a contract extension, his current contract with the Portuguese record champions ends in summer 2024. The 28-year-old from Stuttgart with roots in Greece (29 international matches) says: “We’re in talks, yes. Everything else will show.” In principle, he could imagine ending his career in Lisbon: “I feel good in the club. And yet that’s still a long way off. Football is a day-to-day business, you often don’t know what tomorrow will bring.”
