Young Cuban model Daylin Rodríguez finished third runner-up in the Miss Florida Teen USA pageant, where she participated representing Miss Carnaval Miami.
The Cuban, who arrived in the United States five years ago thanks to the family reunification program, competed in the complex event and managed to come in third place despite the fact that English is not her first language.
“I am very proud of my participation in @missflteenusa, although English is not my first language, I was able to reach the top 5 and finish as 3rd runner-up and I am very proud of everything I have achieved in just 5 years in this country,” Rodríguez wrote on her social networks.
Speaking to CiberCuba Yuliet Peña, the young woman’s mother, stated that “the representation of a Cuban woman in the Florida state contest is wonderful.”
She also said that it is a goal for Rodriguez to be able to participate in Miss Universe Cuba in the future to represent the land where she was born in the international pageant.
He explained that the winners of the contest Miss Carnaval Miamihave the opportunity to participate in Miss Teen Florida and Miss Florida.
This year Miss Carnaval Miami had two representatives, Daylin in the Teen category and model Delaney Milian in the Miss category.
Rodríguez was the winner of Miss Carnaval Miami last year.
In 2022 she was second finalist in the international beauty pageant Universal Petite 2022held on a cruise ship that departed from the American city of Tampa.
That same year, Daylin walked the runways of Times Square as part of the group of models chosen by designer Fernando Wong to wear his outfits at New York Fashion Week 2022.
