The National Agency for the Automated Processing of Offenses (ANTAI) warns of a recurring scam which has visibly increased in recent months.
Fraudulent SMS have become almost daily for the French. From “unpaid” Netflix subscriptions to the “non-regulatory” Crit’Air sticker, all subjects are good for trying to extract money or personal data from victims.
For several months, a parking fine scam has been multiplying. The principle is essentially the same as for other deceptions of this type: an SMS which alerts on a “late payment” for a parking fine to be paid, with “Info ANTAI” in mind to give credibility to the process.
Once again, the link looks like an official link like “suivi-dossier-antai.com” or “dossier-antai-gouv.info”. Obviously, it is not a question of the site of the ANTAI to regulate its verbalizations, this one being a sub-domain of the public service, “amendes.gouv.fr”.
THE ANTAI had already alerted last summer on a resurgence of these false SMS inviting not to click on the links in question which end up subtracting money or confidential data.
“Never communicate sensitive information by e-mail or telephone: no administration will ask you for your bank details or your passwords by e-mail or by telephone” advises ANTAI.
A reflex in reality to adopt for all suspicious SMS, which multiply at the beginning of the year.
