Zelensky Slams Russian ‘Monsters’ After Video of Suspected Ukrainian Prisoner Beheaded

Other officials reacted to this video, including the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Dmytro Kouleba, who assured that Russia was “worse than the Islamic State”.

The images are unbearable. President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday denounced Russian “monsters” after the publication on social networks of a video showing the beheading of a suspected Ukrainian prisoner of war.

“How easily these monsters kill. This video of the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war, the world must see it. This is a video of Russia as it is,” he said in a video posted. on Instagram.

The Ukrainian president hammers it, “it’s not an accident, it’s not a simple episode, there has already been this case before, in Boutcha, and thousands of other times. Everyone must react, don’t expect it to be forgotten.”

Moscow did not react

In recent hours on various social networks, many Internet users have been outraged by the broadcast of a video of the beheading of a Ukrainian prisoner, possibly attributed to Russian soldiers. For now, it has not been officially verified.

The video, which lasts one minute and forty seconds, has been circulating since Tuesday. In it, a man in camouflage, his face masked, slits the neck of another man in uniform struggling on the ground, before showing the severed head to the camera. The camera also stops on the vest of the victim crossed out with the Ukrainian trident and a skull.

Moscow did not react immediately, but on Wednesday the Kremlin said it wanted to verify the “authenticity” of these “horrible images.”

“The Punishment Will Come”

According to Anton Geraschenko, adviser to the Ukrainian Minister of the Interior, these are actually two videos of the same content that exist. The first “was probably shot last year” while the second “was filmed on April 8 by Wagner mercenaries.”

“It seems that the dead soldiers also had their hands cut off. The punishment will come,” he adds.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy Dmytro Kouleba denounced the “horrible video of Russian soldiers beheading a Ukrainian prisoner of war” while believing that Russia was “worse than the Islamic State”, a jihadist organization which filmed the executions of its hostages, especially by decapitation.

This new episode recalls the summary execution suffered by Oleksandre Igorovitch Matsievskiï, whom we see being shot in a video.
