Jessie then begins a desperate struggle to free herself from her bonds and survive, while facing her own fears and ghosts from the past. The situation becomes even more tense when she begins to experience frightening hallucinations and visions, questioning what is real and what is the fruit of her imagination. As the story unfolds, dark secrets are revealed and Jessie’s fight for survival becomes increasingly challenging and intense. The film is directed by Mike Flanagan and stars Carla Gugino as Jessie and Bruce Greenwood as Gerald. It’s a dark and harrowing adaptation of Stephen King’s novel and explores themes of trauma, survival and a woman’s internal struggle to overcome her fears and limitations.
