One thousand students of the nursing career at the Bolivarian Technological Institute (ITB) have proposed a new challenge: to help vaccinate 3.7 million children against poliomyelitis, measles and rubella in a ten-week period in Ecuador.

This initiative is part of the campaign “Ecuador free of poliomyelitis, measles and rubella 2023″, jointly with the Ministry of Public Health, and which also seeks to highlight the profession of nursing. In addition, it is presented in the context of the Day of Nursing, which is celebrated on May 12th.

The campaign started on the 2nd of May and will culminate on the 9th of July. In its first stage, it is planned to vaccinate the captive population in educational units and public and private child care centers between 08:00 and 16:30; and then, house-to-house vaccination. The established age range is from 2 to 12 years, regardless of whether you have previously received the vaccination schedule.

ITB students also participated in the vaccination against COVID-19. More than 459 nurses inoculated 827,574 people in daily shifts.

With the new straight one seeks to overcome this figure. The students who will participate in the current inoculation campaign will be distributed between Guayaquil and Durán. (I)
