Los Angeles (USA), May 12. Swedish actor, filmmaker and martial artist Dolph Lundgren has revealed that he has been battling cancer since 2015, when doctors found a malignant tumor in his kidney.

The villain of one of the installments of the “Rocky” saga has confessed that he suffers from this disease in an interview on the American program “In Depth With Graham Bensinger”, directed by the journalist who gives him his name.

The 65-year-old “The Expendables” and “Universal Soldier” actor explained that he has been working with medical professionals to treat cancerous tumors since he was first detected.

At one point in this process -he recounts during the interview-, he was told that he had two or three years to live, but he sought a second opinion and received a treatment that reduced his numerous tumors by up to 90% last year.

The promoters of the program explain that they spent two days in Los Angeles with this actor, a 1.96 meter chemical engineer, turned villain in the cinema and expert in martial arts who quickly rose to fame in action films.

During the interview, she talks about the ups and downs of her relationship with actor Sylvester Stallone, with whom she starred in “Rocky,” and how her illness has given her a new lease on life.

Cancer -he explains- has helped him “to fight the demons of his past and repair relationships with his loved ones”.

Dolph’s daughter, Ida Lundgren, his fiancée Emma Krokdal, and the doctor who treated him, Alexandria Drakaki, also appear on the show.

The journalist and the actor also take advantage of the program to visit the “mecca of bodybuilding” in Venice Beach (California), where they are joined by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lundgren’s long-time training partner and friend by profession. EFE
