President Alberto Fernández held a meeting at the San Martín Palace with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, who is visiting South America that includes Brazil and Chile, and whose objective is to expand bilateral trade, the flow of investment and the financing of Projects.

As officially reported, in the meeting between the Argentine president and the German chancellor, the head of state was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Nation, Santiago Cafiero.

Scholz arrived at the Ezeiza international airport at 5:59 p.m., where he was received by Foreign Minister Cafiero, with a delegation also made up of collaborators and businessmen.

The German chancellor then made the traditional wreath at the monument to the Liberator General Don José de San Martín, in the Retiro neighborhood.

The Argentine head of state received Scholz at the San Martín Palace at 7:17 p.m., where they held the bilateral meeting, Télam published.

For his part, starting at 7:30 p.m., the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, led a meeting with businessmen and an extended meeting with officials from both countries, after which trade agreements will be signed.

At 8:30 p.m., the Argentine President and the German Chancellor will make a joint statement to the press in the Patio de Honor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also, starting at 9:00 p.m., both officials will lead the closure of the business meeting with directors of German firms and representatives of Argentine companies in the Libertador room of the San Martin Palace.

This will be the third time that Alberto Fernández meets with Scholz. The previous ones were in Berlin, during a tour of the Argentine president through Europe; and at the G-7 Summit in Munich, which Alberto Fernández attended on behalf of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).

Germany is Argentina’s main trading partner in the European Union, and one of the focuses of interest in the trade relationship is linked to the development and export of renewable energy such as solar or wind.

Argentina’s total trade with Germany exceeded 3.6 billion dollars in 2022, with a growth of 8% compared to 2021.

Argentina exported a total of 883 million dollars, with a growth of 9% year-on-year. The main products exported by Argentina are bovine meat, inorganic chemical products, raw silver, combed wool and natural honey.
