The Argentine offensive midfielder Alejandro “‘Papu’ Gómez suffered an injury to the deltoid ligament in his left ankle, officially reported by Sevilla of Spain, an institution in which the world champion currently plays with the Argentine National Team.

Gómez, 34, had returned to the Spanish team with a problem that prevented him from playing the last matches of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. For this reason, he underwent an MRI and the result showed this condition that will prevent him from playing the first matches of the year with his club.

“The ailment that prevented him from playing in the last stretch of the World Cup is progressing favourably, so if there are no changes, in the coming days the player will make progress in the field work,” Sevilla explained in a statement.

The Argentine midfielder, who joined the Sevillian team in January 2021 from Atalanta, has played 17 games this season, in which he did not score a goal, although he did give two assists.
