During the Power On podcast for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said that Apple is expected to officially announce its so expected mixed reality headset before WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference), its innovation fair, which usually takes place in June.

Even so, the estimate is that it will not be released before the new iPhone 15, which should be released in the second half.

The expert also resonated that Apple is developing an operating system called xrOS and some software developers have disclosed that they have early access to bring the first wave of third-party applications.

It is estimated that the product will be called Apple Reality Pro and will initially be marketed to enterprises, developers, and power users.

Apple appears to be developing its first mixed reality headset. Its name is still unknown – although rumors point to “Reality One” or “Reality Pro” –, but several leaks give previews of what the accessory will look like. Today (03), a report by the The Information revealed more details about the mysterious device.

According to people supposedly familiar with the matter, in some use cases, the Apple AR/VR headset will require AirPods connection, the headphones of the brand. The sources cite virtual meetings and other occasions where there is a focus on user privacy and the use of the accessory’s built-in speakers is not recommended.

Only models of AirPods equipped with H2 chip would be compatible with Apple’s AR/VR headset. As explained by sources, this headphones’ dedicated processor has low-latency mode pairing capabilities, allowing picture and sound to be synchronized in near real-time.

The 2nd generation AirPods Pro is the only model equipped with Apple’s latest wireless audio optimization chip, but it’s possible the company will complement its portfolio with new products to work in tandem with the AR/VR headset.

Different from Apple Watch bands. it is speculated that the headband of the headset cannot be changed. Furthermore, the accessory may only be a tool for professional applications initially, putting games and entertainment into plans for the future.

Its specifications should include Apple’s M2 processor, dual screen with 4K resolution and Micro LED technology, an external display and the xrOS operating system, which should be based on iOS and macOS, according to previous rumors. The glasses are supposed to be direct rivals to the Meta Quest Pro, released in October 2021.

Apple’s AR/VR headset can be released in 2023 with prices in the $3,000 range (about BRL 16 thousand). Leakers are betting on an official introduction at WWDC 2023, a developer conference that could take place in March to reveal the software platform that will support the accessory.
